Very rude, they don’t want to reimburse your money. Stick to air Canada. Never fly with WestJet. There’s a reason why they have 1.5 stars. All scammers dedicated to taking your money, not making sure your experience is the best possible.
Worst airlines ever, I had to share my experience here. I do understand due to Covid19, most airlines had to rescheule different routes. But my experience was unexpected and not reasonable. I had originally booked my fiancé a ticket from Yellowknife to arrive in London, ON and then from London, ON to Yellowknife under my membership account and Westjet changed the tickets without even any consideration. So they changed her reservation to leave a day before she was expected to leave Yellowknife and gave her a stop in Calgary for 3 days ( which was originally for 2 hours only, when i booked). They expect her to stay in Calgary for 3 days without any reason. I called them and asked her for a reason, and first time the girl hung up the phone saying she can't find her itinerary. Called second time, after 1 hour someone answered and she told me that she can't do anything about the ticket as that is what is available. There was another flight from Yellowknife to Toronto the same day, but she said she can't book her on that flight, as there is a fare difference. This was the same flight they changed to leave yellowknife to calgary and then calgary it was suppose to leave same day to Toronto. But she said coz her final destination is different, she wont be able to give her a change of destination. Which is ridiculous as this was not our fault, and does west jet want her to stay in calgary for 3 days ? When originally booking, the flights rates to Toronto and London, ON were the same, and as its Westjet's fault, they should have given us the choice to change the destination, rather then putting her in Calagry for 3 days. It didn't made sense to me at all, that they changed her flight a day earlier and same flight was going to Toronto same day, why can't they put her on the same flight when it was available. Then on her return flight as well, they changed it to a further date, again a few days stop in Calgary ( and this was not even mentioned to us, when i asked Westjet agent to check on return flight, she mentioned this). Instead of taking responsibility and making it right for passenger, the airlines had made it worse for us. Moreover, they said they can't refund in original form of payment and can only give us travel credits, and now will have to pay another tickets from our pocket, if we decide to book with another airlines. We had booked this tickets in advance, and now any other tickets available are way overpriced, just cause we had trusted Westjet in it and now we have to suffer, as they are not willing to help at all. I have been flying with Westjet for a long time, and now re-considering my choices.

WestJet took my money for a non-stop flight, canceled it, then offered a 6AM flight with layovers instead on a different day. This was unusable for me, and they could offer nothing better, but they REFUSED a cash refund. Travel credits are worthless if they can't be used to get something remotely equivalent.

I had my flight cancelled twice last year during the pandemic , West jet added a 2 day layover in Calgary ??? so instead of having 2 stops I now had 3 stops and a 2 day layover.
also they are now telling me it was not cancelled due to covid?? but yet gave me no reason as to why it was cancelled.
I have been waiting 1 year for my refund which they assured me I would receive .
NEVER USE WESTJET
If Westjet has yet to refund you for airfares cancelled by them over the past year, and has recently had the temerity to inform you, after months of refusing communication, that they may now be ready to hear your pleas....
....and that some sort of refund may be possible, but it will take 6-9months....
...then take heart. Talk to your credit card company about Chargeback. They will take care of it.
That way you stop Westjet earning interest off YOUR money, or the airline going bust and you never seeing a penny of it ever again.
A horrible company to deal with.
Back in July they cancelled our son’s August flights to Toronto due to the Wuhan Virus. Fair enough. What Choice was there with the restrictions at the time?
The problem? It is now the 10th of November and still we have not been refunded. 4 months!
These people are VERY difficult to contact, with a deliberately labyrinthine website that returns you to the start without having got anywhere. Insisting on a ‘rewards I.D.’ we don’t recall having (and never asked for), and without which one cannot even send them an email, much less receive a reply.
We have now received a deeply peculiar, and frankly offensive, email telling us they are now ready to process our refund - and that it will take between 6 - 9 months.
They will have had our money for the best part of a year, possibly longer, earning interest while we are paying it!
Furthermore, the refund form asks for endless information when the reference number, our name and email is all they need. They aren’t going to relinquish their very tight grip on our money without a fight........
Can holding onto our money for 10 - 13 months even be legal?
Effectively, this means one cannot trust Westjet. With Covid likely to be around in one form or another until at least 2023, who would make an advance booking with them?
They wouldn’t be behaving this way if they weren’t in a great deal of trouble.
If you are waiting for your refund, and thousands are, I wouldn’t hold your breath.
Then again, another reviewer here suggested using chargeback on the credit card you used to make the booking - he says it worked for him!
In July this year Westjet cancelled our flights to Canada for the second time.
This was understandable because of the Wuhan virus.
However, what is NOT understandable is their holding onto our money.
3 months on and they still haven’t refunded our money.
They don’t answer emails, and the Website is specifically designed to waste your time and send you away having got absolutely nowhere.
And to think previous experiences with the airline were quite positive!
Appalling company. Walk away! I see here on TP that I am not alone by any means!!
We were a mere 200 grammes over on one bag with our 23kg allowance....note grammes and not kilos!
We were surprised when the uncooperative agent told us we were overweight.
(Am I correct? You cannot charge any extra until you actually hit 1 kilo or more overweight?)
The agent was just awful. Confrontational, argumentative and by the rule guy. His supervisor was equally dreadful. She, of course, came over with an attitude and as expected backed him up and would not budge. So, we had to take a single item from our bag.
This does NOT go down well with your passengers and is far from normal customer care.
At the gate, the same supervisor was there with a face that would sink a ship. I asked her was that necessary at the check-in. Should she not have been the one to handle the situation better? No, she still dug in and left such a bad impression with us of Westjet.
I promise...I will never fly them again unless absolutely necessary. Which may be the case as there is NO airline competition in Canada.
Monopolies, where you can treat your customers/passenger with contempt, are just the worst for any economy and for customer service.
Stole my money! We had a flight booked and they cancelled it and kept our money.

USA residents blocked from entering Canada due to Covid-19 and Westjetsucks won't talk to us about any way to deal with our flight. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me - not going to happen.

Anyone who flies on this evil airline that forces covid tests starting Sept 1 and mandatory masks?.. needs their head examined..BOYCOTT THIS AIRLINE. Your freedoms are GONE forever!
I hope WestJet bosses all take a flight and contract COVID-19. Then see how you do in spending our money that you refused and promised to refund.

We took advice from our lawyer and got our credit card company to do a charge back to WestJet. We got our full amount returned! It really works, folks!
